Girl Child

A poem.

Girl child, treasured moments in the sun. One by one.
Stolen moments. Stained glass fragments.
Grains of sand upon the endless beach.
Moving, always moving out reach.

Dancing light. Light so longed to hold, to cup and fold.
Sweet notes upon the air. Falling stars.
Lightning bugs aflicker in twilight — sparking, dowsing, sparking — slipped beyond her sight.
